The Aquatic Classroom Pond
<< Previous (Creative Problem Solving) | Next (Wind Turbine Project) >>
Development of the pond (Aquatic Classrom) was initiated with a grant from the Erie County Department of Environment and Planning in July 2000. Students designed and installed the pond with help from volunteers from a local plant nursery. They maintain the pond environment with the assistance of the school grounds staff members who generously offer their assistance. The pond has been integrated into the school science programs and serves as a source of water and microorganisms for water testing and the study of pond life throughout the year. Additionally, English classes use the pond for creative writing activites while art classes and photography students use its natural beauty to stimulate student work.
